Preparing the Way

  A Montessori/Christian based Preschool

           for children 3 - 5 years old

What our program offers........

Areas of activity are Practical Life, Dramatic Play, Sensorial Exploration, Literacy, Cultural subjects, Art, Science and Math. The extensive sets of Montessori materials in each of these areas are designed to appeal to the children's deep interest and to inspire repeated activity.

 Practical Life & Dramatic Play

Through exercises of Practical Life and the freedom of Dramatic Play the children learn; care of the person, one another, and the environment, the children expand motor skills, refine coordination, extend concentration, and express their love and respect for their community and classroom. Arranging flowers, pouring, sweeping, buttoning, and tying among others skills, are the everyday activities that empower children and encourage them to take their new skills home. Through lessons in grace and courtesy, the guide invites the children to practice thoughtful behavior and good manners, which in turn teaches them to be gracious and civil to all. In addition, they will learn to serve themselves snack and clean up after themselves. These activities are very meaningful to the young child, they are easily imitated and appeal to the child’s will.  Mastery of these skills furthers the development of greater physical skills, perfection of movement and concentration.

Sensorial Exploration

The Montessori guide presents activities with materials isolating a particular sensorial property. The children match, grade, order, or explore by tasting, smelling, touching, listening, or seeing. Through repeating these exercises at will, the children clarify their impressions and refine their senses.

The fullest array of exercises, materials, songs and activities in Literacy make it possible for the children to learn to recognize letters and the sounds they make, to manipulate letters to form words, then to read and write those words. Every aspect of the Montessori classroom draws forth language development. Specific materials and exercises refine, extend and enrich vocabulary that tune the ear to the beauty, rhythm and song of language.

The introduction to cultural subjects is made as extensions of the sensorial materials and language activities. Art, music, geography, history, botany, zoology, and science are integrated into a holistic approach to living and learning about our human family across cultures and throughout history. Through nature, story, music, art, and food the guide fosters in the children a reverence and love for all of creation.

Extensive concrete math materials allow the children to explore concepts and operations of traditional of basic mathematics. The children's repeated manipulation of these carefully designed materials lays a firm foundation of concrete experience on which later abstract concepts are built.

  Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe and prepared environment where our littlest can grow and flourish. Where the seeds of Hope, Compassion, Love of God, Self, Family and Nature will be planted in the hearts and minds of our next generation. To model to each and every child, the greatest of courtesy and respect so they will see the Golden Rule in action “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. We will teach the children that we are stewards of this earth, that God created this beautiful world just for us, so we need to respect all God’s creatures- great and small, because we all are, no matter what our age, responsible to do our part to protect this pretty planet. We at Preparing the Way Preschool believe that educating and teaching the children about God and Jesus is our highest calling and feel it is our privilege to be among their first teachers.

But Jesus said,

Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me:

for of such is the kingdom

 of heaven.

Matthew 19:14
